Sounds like a really interesting backyard if you have Tiger-Herons in it - they are considered rare in Trinidad. It probably was a courtship dance. You can check it against videos on youtube and the IBC.

I live part of the year on Yal Ku lagoon in Akumal, on the Yucatan. Last week there were a pair of tiger herons doing a "dance" in the grassy part of our yard bordering the lagoon. Their wings were slightly puffed out, and they circled around each other for a while. Is that mating behavior? Not too quick on my feet, I failed to film the event!

It was previously presumed that the birds were breeding in Trinidad but this is the first time someone has actually seen and reported it.

This is good for Trinidad & Tobago. I believe there are other species of birds that could be recomended to full speices or subspecies status. There is also a talk amongst some birders that the Motmot in Tobago is a subspecies of the Triniadad Motmot. There is claim that the birds in Tobago is darker than the ones in Trinidad, they live in different habitats and they are less weary than of humans & will approach quite close.

I don't know if this true. Maybe you know something on this.i will be glad for a response.
